Protective Sealants
Before any client receives his or her etching stone, all pieces are properly protected to help fight against the elements, such as, oil and food staining, weathering, sun and more. Although marble, granite, and other natural stone surfaces are thought of as maintenance free, these surfaces do proper cleaning, protection and maintenance. Depending on which etched stone piece you own, we may suggest reapplication of our sealant as often as twice per year. All natural stone surfaces, polishes or unpolished, are very permeable and may be stained by various use of common elements.
General Cleaning Tips
Clean your stone on a regular basis with warm water and a clean, non-abrasive cloth, sponge or mop. Sweep or dust all natural stone surfaces frequently to remove loose soil and dust. Please contact us (insert website) for recommendations of cleaning products for your stone etchings.
Do not make the mistakes of using general household cleaners, protecting agents or polishes! Products that are not formulated particularly for use on natural stone will do more harm than good. Ammonia, bleach, abrasives, acid and alkaline based products will damage natural stone.
What is the average production time?
Turn around time is reliant on the number of orders in production at any time. Generally speaking, a project ranging in size from 2’ x 3’ to 3’ to 4’ will take approximately 7 to 10 days depending on colorizing and mounting specifications. Depending on the destination, method of shipment and size, our products may be delivered in 1-3 rush and 4-10 days standard delivery.
Shipping can be arranged to your door for all items. Smaller pieces can be sent UPS, FEDEX, or USPS, with a maximum shipment weight of approximately 150lbs. Larger pieces are shipped by common carrier. Standard ground freight can accept any weight at any size and reach any destination within the Continental United States in 3-10 days, depending on your location and time delivery needs. Overseas delivery varies to a great extent depending on location.

How do you get the color into the stone?
The color augmentation of your etching is produced by hand painting; our artist is essentially staining the pores of the natural stone with the highest quality of paints. Pricing for the color request is based on the length of time it takes the artist to apply the paint on an etched image. We base our cost @ $75 /hr. artist time. Size is not always the main factor in painting time, involvedness is. A custom quote, depending on the size and obscurity of the image is essential for each job, but commonly you can anticipate the etching costs to increase 20% to 50% for color application of the images. Suitable sealants to protect the colorized image or images are always applied after the color application is complete. Black & White pieces also receive the specialty sealants.
How do you recommend lighting the stones etchings?
A wide spot light source is best for lighting your etchings. We would suggest using either incandescent or halogen lighting. The halogen lighting casts the purest white light. Fluorescent lighting is not suggested, they distort the colors and gives off high levels of ultraviolet rays that can ultimately damage the colors.
Track lighting is the simplest and usually the best way to light your stone etchings. Recessed lighting is also frequently used in newer homes and is also a nice way to highlight the etchings. Reflection and glare may also be a challenge with the ordinary shine of our stone etchings therefore we recommend placing the light generally around a 25-35 degree angle towards the work. Please feel free to contact us for the best lighting requirements. |
